The Nine Herbs Charm is a sacred spell found in an Old English text called the Lacnunga. The charm calls on each of the nine herbs, reminding them of their power and asking them for help. The spell was sung into the person in need of healing while an ointment made from these plants was applied.
The spiritual relationship we have with plants has always been, and always will be, an important component in our healing. Even today, the plants called upon in this charm are some of our best medicines and allies.
